A firm believer in integrating the best of traditional medicine with allopathic modalities, Dr. Nachat specializes in treating patients with complex medical conditions and life-altering illnesses to minimize therapy and disease-related symptoms while optimizing quality of life. Her work focuses on delivering personalized care that combines her medical expertise with compassion, communication, and collaboration to develop care plans that respect the wishes and dignity of each patient.
An innovator and change-maker, Dr. Nachat has been recognized for her work creating the first inpatient integrative symptoms management service for Kaiser Permanente in California. She has conducted extensive, peer reviewed, therapy-related translational research to identify health outcomes of adjunct therapies. Most recently, she was an authoring member of the Oregon Health Authority Opiate Taskforce state guidelines.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she regularly lectures across the nation on pain management and has successfully implemented multi-modal pain management best practices across healthcare systems on the west coast. Dr. Nachat is the past Chair of the America Pain Society CAM special interest group.
Dr. Nachat was recently named a Top Doc for Hospice and Palliative Care by her peers in the Portland area for the second consecutive year.

Guided by her early experiences as a healthcare provider, Dr. McGrew has practiced medicine with the belief that people come first. She does healthcare the right way by taking time to understand each patient’s history, current medical concerns and care goals, then works to create a personalized plan and offer collaborative recommendations with other providers.
Dr. McGrew’s insatiable appetite for knowledge drives her to spend many hours each week reading medical journals, attending conferences and completing continuing education courses. Her dedication to life-long learning ensures that the medical attention she provides is second-to-none, informed by the most innovative and powerful evidence-based treatment options available to the medical community.

Dr. McCulloch is an apprenticeship-trained acupuncturist. He has 34 years’ clinical acupuncture experience working primarily with cancer patients, and a long publication record specific to Chinese medicine and cancer. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he served as Research Director of the Integrative Medicine Department at Kaiser Permanente’s Walnut Creek Hospital where he used his epidemiology and biostatistics training from University of California Berkeley’s School of Public Health to inform the development of integrative medicine
In collaboration with Dr. Nachat and her team of acupuncturists, Dr. McCulloch established quality Improvement projects to test strategies and systems for hospital-based acupuncture treatment of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy as well as efficacy analysis. His work included implementation of both inpatient and outpatient hospital-based acupuncture services, as well as recruitment and follow-up of ongoing trials.

Ira Summer serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Encompassing Care Alliance. In this role, Ira combines his knowledge of finance with his years of experience consulting on retirement and health care issues, and extensive background with startups. Ira has worked with startups, private corporations and public agencies ranging from Florida and Georgia in the south, up to Minnesota and Washington in the north, and California and Oregon in the west.
Prior to joining Encompassing Care Alliance, Ira taught courses in Economics and Finance to MBA students at the Hult International School of Business and the California College of the Arts. He has served as Chief Financial Officer to a variety of startups, such as One-Spot, non-profits, like the Transpire Foundation, and small businesses, including Comedy Oakland. Ira continues to advise government agencies on retirement, health care and other financial issues as a Senior Consultant for GovInvest. He is a former member of the City of Piedmont’s Tax Review Committee, a former Chair of the Piedmont Police and Fire Retirement Board, and served as a member of the Legislative Committee of California’s State Association of County Retirement Systems, the American Academy of Actuaries Task Force on Public Plans and the Editorial Committee of the Florida Public Pension Trustee Association.
